Pre-requisite.

To be laughter-skilled, meaning that you would know already how to laugh voluntarily while performing exercise, for example on land like these.

You would be able to do them easily while laughing

This course will give you the tools to do it in water and create a session.

Four types of laughter sessions in water.
(Hint: this course is for the 2nd type).

  1. Laughter Yoga in shallow water. You probably know perfectly well how to do it. Like LY in the snow, or in the rain, or in a park, or in the fog, or at sunset on top of a hill ... changing the context does not really alter the basic structure of a LY session. So it is for shallow water.
  2. Exercise Laughter Sessions In Water (ELSIW for short): this is the outcome of the course. In deeper water it is hardly possible to do any LY exercises. What makes the difference here is taking advantage of the peculiarity and benefits of deeper water as well as doing a meaningful workout long enough to have an impact on the physical as well as the emotional metabolism.
  3. AquaLaughter Leader: a cycle of 45 minutes sessions of meaningful physical activity and diaphragmatic laughter in water. Delivered by a certified AquaLaughter Leader trained to follow a protocol to ensure the AquaLaughter session is: motivating, inclusive, progressive, interactive and a total workout.
  4. AquaLaughter Pro: a 8-session cycle of 45 minutes of meaningful physical activity and diaphragmatic laughter in water. Delivered by a professional aqua trainer, additionally trained to follow a protocol to ensure the AquaLaughter session is: motivating, inclusive, progressive, interactive and a total workout.
Step 1. Debilitating misconceptions: check if you have them and get rid of them right from the start.

Stop them draining your energy, wasting your time and leading you in wrong directions.

Sometimes it is just a question of changing paradigm.

What you will have at the end of this step
Tools to assess what misconceptions might be holding you back, how much time, money and energy they are costing you and what better strategies you could put into action.

Step 2. Choreography ... stop worrying about what to do and start practicing.

You’ll discover how to choose a choreography in tune with your present level of fitness, simple enough to be generated/put together in minutes and that you can start practicing right away. You'll be recommended to repeat this process of choreography creation before each subsequent module, so, by the end, you'll have a set of choreographies that will give you a reserve of power for your sessions.

What you will have after completing this step
A procedure to easily tailor a choreography to suit your taste, liking, level. You will have hopefully started practicing and acquiring the confidence that you can do it!

Of course this will happen if you take time to practice ... according to the saying "you can't plow a field simply by turning it over in your mind."

Step 3. You: maximize the talents you already have.

Make the most of all the skills and resources you have, not just your laughter ability. In this step you’ll learn in this module shortcuts and tricks that you can use to build on your strenghts rather than trying to acquire at once all the skills you dream of or feel you should have.

An assessment of your talents and skills and how to make the most out of them for quickly and easily creating your first session.

Step 4. Know your context ... unless you like nasty surprise.

Learn about the different contexts (pool, sea, temperature, depth, ...) so you can choose them wisely and adapt the session accordingly.


What you will have at the end of this step
Awareness of the challenges represented by the different contexts, a checklist to assess them, solutions for finding alternative strategies and tools to adapt the session accordingly.

Step 5. Participants: get to know your participants or ... prepare to lose them.

If you don’t take into account the aquatic skills of your participants you might quickly lose them or loose control of the session.

What you will have at the end of this step
A list of aquatic skill and emotional states to take into consideration; a worksheet to evaluate your actual participants and to adapt your session.

Step 6. The comprehensive choreography: putting all the pieces together like in a musical score.

The outcome of the session depends on many factors. You’ll have guidedlines and checklists to prepare your "score" in tune with you, from a simple one, to more complex one, as you go along and hone your skills.

What you will have at the end of this step
Awareness of how the different parts of the choreography contribute to the success of the session, and tools to harmonize the different aspects of a session into a single easy-to-use "score".

Step ∞. The learning: how you can progress from one level of expertise to the next one and get hooked on the fun and the benefits of water + laughter + exercise.

You'll have guidelines, worksheet and checklist to speed up your progession and learn from each session how to go to the next level of expertise.

The exercises however are just one of the ingredients. The laughter another one. If we consider the cake analogy it might appear clearer: to make a good cake, it is not just a question of knowing one ingredient, not even only a question of knowing all the ingredients, but one needs also to know the whole recipe, the quantities, how to mix the ingredients, how to cook them.

Do you need any aqua fitness experience?
Any aqua experience, not only aqua fitness experience, is good to create a session adapted to your level.
Do I need to swim?
It depends on your level. See the difference between Laughter Yoga in water, laughter session in water, AquaLaughter delivered by a Leader, AquaLaughter delivered by an aqua professional.
What are the different type of laughter sessions in water?
Laughter Yoga in water: a standard LY session done in shallow water. Laughter session in water: is what is taught in this course. 1) water deep enough that prevent to do a standard session, 2) meaning ful exercise. AquaLaughter delivered by a Leader. A 45 minutes session, with meaningful exercise and laughter, that follows a protocol, delivered by Leader that has been trained and certified. It is organized into a cycle of 8 sessions. AquaLaughter delivered by an aqua professional. A 45 minutes session delivered by aquafit, aquagym, aquapilates instructors.
How is Aqua laughter different to just laughing in the water during an aqua fitness class?
AquaLaughter is: 1) a method to train how to actually keep laughing almost continuously for 45 minutes while doing exercises; 2) a cycle of 8 sessions following a protocol, that is progressive, motivating, inclusive, interactive and a real work-out; 3) a system to optimize the excercise-laughter experience over a significant period of time.
Will I get wet?
In aqua classes usually the instructor keeps outside of the pool. In AquaLaughter the instructor is in the water together with the participants.
